The actions of the providers of high fructoe corn syrup Daniels Midland (ADM) and Ingredion (Ing) fell into the trade of the first companies on Thursday after President Donald Trump claimed that Coca-Cola (KO) agreed to change to use cane sugar in his eponyms in the United States.
In a publication in his Truth social media site, Trump wrote that he spoke with “those with authority” in the soft drink manufacturer and agreed to use “real cane sugar” in Coca-Cola in the United States, the president thanked the officials, qualifying him as “a very good movement for them”, adding: “It is better!”
Coca-Cola told him Investopedia, “We appreciate the enthusiasm of President Trump for our iconic Coca brand -Cola. Soon more details will be shared on new innovative offers within our range of coca products -Cola.” ADM and INGREDION did not immediately respond to Inventopedia Requests for comments.
Trump, the Secretary of Health and Human Resources, Robert Kennedy Jr., and the Commissioner of Food and Medicines Administration, Marty Makary, have been asking the food companies to move away from using certain ingredients as part of the “Make America America Again” agenda of the Administration. Several companies, including General Mills (SIG), Pepsico (PEP) and Kraft Heinz (KHC), have already agreed to eliminate artificial dyes from their products.
Coca-Cola’s actions were close to 1% in recent operations, while ADM and ingredion shares decreased approximately 2%.
