Best Buy (BBY) doubled the amount of products available through its website and application while launching an American market on Tuesday that is open to hundreds of brands that are not transported in their stores, such as Martha Stewart, Crock-Pot and World Wide Stereo. The market offers more technology and taps in new categories, including the merchandise of the sports team, seasonal decorations and musical instruments, as well as toys and puzzles, said Best Buy in a press release and questions and answers.
“Our clients have always sought to bring emotion and inspiration so that only technology can,” said Frank Bedo, Market Head and Electronic Commerce officer at Best Buy, in a statement. Through the market, “we can really offer the complete experience they need,” said the statement.
The electronics giant, which already has a third -party platform in Canada, is the last retailer to launch an online market, a movement that allows companies to expand their product portfolio without investing in inventory or storage space. Walmart (WMT), Target (TGT), Lowe’s (Low), Nordstrom and Ult (UULT) have launched or shared plans to launch a market, according to the company’s ads.
