The Byd shares of China recovered on Tuesday after the company announced a new technology that states that it can load electric vehicles (EV) almost as fast as it is needed to fill a gasoline car.

The shares that quote in Hong Kong of byd jumped more than 6% shortly after the open, measuring a new maximum of 52 weeks. The action, which was last seen that it lies around 2.5% higher, has increased more than 51% in the year to date.

Meanwhile, the price of Byd shares, which is on the Shenzen list, increased more than 2% on Tuesday morning, before reducing some of their profits.

Shortly after Byd released a new “super e-platerform” technology, which says it will be capable of maximum loading speeds of 1,000 kilowatts. The EV giant and Tesla Rival says that this will allow cars to use technology to achieve 400 kilometers (approximately 249 miles) with only 5 minutes of load.

CNBC could not independently verify these statements.

On the contrary, Tesla’s last surcharging offers a load rate of up to 500 kilowatts, and can add up to 270 kilometers in 15 minutes. Meanwhile, the Mercedes-Benz group in Germany said last week that its fully electric CLA can recharge up to 325 kilometers in 10 minutes.

“The definitive solution is to make the load as fast as a gasoline car,” said Wang Chuanfu, president and president of Byd, in the launch event, according to a press release.

The advance seems to cut to the nucleus of range anxiety, one of the main conflict points that prevents consumers from changing to an EV. Range anxiety refers to fears that an electric car battery runs out before the passenger reaches the destination.

Xing Lei, an independent car analyst in China, described the technological advances of the new byd battery platform as “out of this word” and a “heartbreaking” development for its foreign competitors.

“Just when everyone’s approach seems to be turning towards intelligence, Byd returns and says: No, no, we have not finished electrification,” Lei said in a LinkedIn post.

Byd said that their sedan ha and tang l SUV will have the new “electronic overcoming”, and both EVs have officially begun pre -sale in China. The company added that it would build more than 4,000 ultra fast loads, or units, throughout China to coincide with the new platform.

Byd has not yet specified how much the new facilities will spend, or when ultra fast load batteries for consumers will be available.

At the beginning of the month, Byd launched a sale of his Hong Kong shares to raise up to $ 5.2 billion, Reuters reported, and it is believed that income is used to invest in research and development, among other areas. The company did not respond to a request for comments at that time.

A change in cargo behavior?

The average range for the EVs in the US. It is almost 300 miles (or 483 kilometers) with a single load, according to the Environmental Defense Fund, while the time it has been loading with an EV with battery can take 20 minutes or several hours, depending on the car and the speed of the loading point.

“The fastest load is definitely an advantage, but is located behind the general range of batteries and the convenience of loading ports as priorities for EV owners,” said Michael Dunne, founder and CEO of Dunne Insights, to CNBC by email.

“Byd is becoming much more skilled to tell its technology advance stories. A traditional engineering company has added an important marketing dimension to its competitive arsenal.”

Dunne said that the fast -loading platform could lead to a change in the behavior of EV owners.

“Few EV owners carry their zero car to full battery charge,” Dunne said.

“On the other hand, they tend to recharge like us with our phones. Then, the ‘5 -minute load’ could change that behavior,” he added.

Companies have adopted several approaches to address consumer rank anxiety, such as including fuel tanks to load the battery or build a network of battery exchange stations that allow drivers of participating vehicles to obtain a completely charged battery in just a few minutes.

In fact, the Chinese electric car company Nio on Tuesday announced a strategic association with Amperex Contemporary Battery Giant contemporary technology.

The two companies “will create the largest and most advanced battery exchange network for passenger vehicles,” according to a press release, which did not specify a moment.

Catl is also investing a total of 2.5 billion yuan ($ 350 million) in the child’s energy unit, according to the statement.
