Craig Wright will not provide cryptographic proof that he is Satoshi, his lawyers said in the Hodlonaut trial

Satoshi, Manshaus said, means “ashes” in Japanese — and Wright chose it because he wanted bitcoin to dismantle the old financial system and “rise like a phoenix from the ashes.” According to Manshaus, it had the added benefit of being the Japanese name of the Pokémon character Ash Ketchum. (Note: CoinDesk tried to verify this claim and found that Satoshi has several meanings depending on the kanji used, none of which translate to “Ash”. Additionally, the Japanese name for Ash Ketchum is based Pokemon creator Satoshi Taijiri’s name according to game website CBR. The spelling Taijiri uses for “Satoshi” translates to “knowledge” or “wisdom”.)
