960 -> 1050, premium component down to a budget one, yet price stayed the same. Corporate greed. Hope it's a flop.

I've owned two dell computers in the past, so my bias against them is valid in my eyes. At least now that I use a Macbook Pro, I know that I won't have clueless wanna be tech support idiots from India transferring me from one moron to another without resolution.

People keep comparing it to the MacBook Pro. I love my iPhone, Apple Watch and iPad Pro. I waited for the new MacBook Pro's to come out, however I just ordered this laptop. Apple especially via my iPad Pro has convinced me of the value of a touch interface and then stupidly refused to offer it on their laptops. I use my iPad Pro with an attached keyboard (making it feel very much like a laptop) and use touch all the time. Microsoft/Dell are smart enough to give me what I want and not a sliver of a touchscreen like Apple rolled out.

Did they also show Apple how to dominate the market with coil whine?

No they don't! Dell doesn't have a look in on Apple regarding how to properly design a laptop chassis. Dell still has no idea about thermal management. Clearly. The main exhaust, with the fans, is on the bottom with about 5 millimeters of clearance?! Ridiculous. The overall quality of the display is much better on the Apple as well. The keyboard is also superior and the MacBook Pro's SSD utterly smokes the Dell's SSD.

Just a note for potential buyers to be careful when watching the reviews of these laptops. Initial reviewers got Samsung SSDs which were top performers, but since then Dell has switched to a mix of Samsung, LiteOn, and Toshiba, that last one which runs at half the read and write speeds! You won't now what you're getting until you get it.

I also miss listening to Gordon Ung on the old PC Gamer podcasts.

The XPS with 32gb ram and 1tb SSD is almost the same price as the lowest specced 15 inch macbook pro lol

Totally agree with you. XPS 15 VS MAC is Freedom VS Slavery, Here is the reasons:

ThinkPad T470P hq and XPS 15 hq are the two monster machines that can be easily configure to code with them from lower level programming languages to the higher level. These two are used by developers, Data managers, Artificial intelligence, programmers..etc. Above all the price is good and Above All of All Freedom to do whatever you want with your machine e.g. installing OS like linux, win …etc.
While idea of having MAC (which is too expensive machine) it comes from putting an innocent human in a golden box to spent the rest of his/her life eating and sleeping under permission of their master MAC, Golden box have one key and the key with MAC company and by definition this is exactly the slavery.

I wonder why in 2017 people pay money to be slaves ,While 1000 years ago they paid their life to be free ?
