The Telegram co -founder, Pavel Durov, will not physically attend the Oslo Freedom Forum in Oslo, Norway, after the French courts denied their request to travel to the Scandinavian country.

According to an announcement of the Human Rights Foundation (HRF), a non -profit organization that advocates universal human rights and individual freedom, and the host of the Oslo Freedom Forum, Durov will still deliver its opening speech remotely on a live broadcast.

“It is unfortunate that the French courts prevent Mr. Durov from participating in an event where his voice is so necessary,” said HRF founder and CEO, Thor Halvorssen.

Durov remains a vocal defender of freedom of expression and individual freedom. Executives of the technological and cryptographic industry closely monitor the developments related to Pavel Durov and the implications for individual freedom of their legal battle in progress in France.

Durov states that French intelligence services asked him to censor conservative voices

Pavel Durov recently accused French intelligence officials to ask him to censor the political content of conservative trend related to the Romanian presidential elections on the Telegram platform.

Durov said he flatly denied the request. “You cannot ‘defend democracy’ destroying democracy. You cannot ‘fight against electoral interference’ by interfering with the elections,” Durov wrote in a telegram post on May 18.

Although the founder of Telegram did not initially appoint the intelligence official or the country of the European Union who asked him to censure the content, Durov then revealed more concrete details. Telegram co -founder wrote on a May 18 post X:

“This spring in the Des Batailles room, in the Hôtel de Crillon, Nicolas Lerner, Chief of French Intelligence, asked me to ban conservative voices in Romania before the elections. I refused. We did not block the protesters in Russia, Belarus or Iran. We will not begin to do it in Europe.”

Durav has repeatedly declared that Telegram will not censor the political content on the platform and will leave the markets before restricting freedom of expression in the application of social messaging.

The Telegram co -founder said that complying with such a hard -hand political censorship constitutes a violation of human rights.
