Privacy is a big concern for the Ethereum ecosystem because transactions on the blockchain are public. Some privacy protection mechanisms already exist. One notable example, Tornado Cash, has its limits, Buterin noted, saying it can only hide “mainstream fungible assets like ETH [ether] or main ERC-20s.”
