This comes as governments around the world are looking for it to implement regulations on generative artificial intelligence for general purposes. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman recently met with regulators in Europe emphasize the importance of non-restrictive regulations and not hinder innovation.

A week ago, Altman testified before the United States Congress with a similar message.

In announcing the new OpenAI grant program, it reflects the view that laws should adapt to technology and that AI needs “more complex and adaptive guidelines for its behavior.”

Examples of questions were given, such as “How should controversial views be represented in AI outputs?” He then said that no individual, company or country should dictate such decisions.

OpenAI has previously warned that if AI is not developed carefully, a a superhuman form of AI can arise within ten years. That’s why developers “have to get it right”.
