Jobs that help companies digitize and growth in the middle economic volatility are on the rise in Singapore, according to LinkedIn.
His latest Jobs on the Rise data revealed sharp increases in the hiring of growth specialists, technical jobs and healthcare professionals in Asia – among other jobs that are expected to expand through 2023.
LinkedIn researchers examined jobs from January 2018 to July 2022 to calculate the growth rate for each job title in a specific country.
LinkedIn added that for a job to be considered, the job must have seen steady growth on the platform over the last five years and “have grown to a meaningful size” by 2022.
Workers can use this list to define their next career path and “prepare for the future world of work,” it added.
Job trends in Singapore
A LinkedIn report found that the share of paid job postings that offer the option to work remotely fell from 7.8% in December 2021 to 4.1% in the same period last year.
Guy Berger, said its chief economist in another message last year that the economic climate is causing some companies to “back off flexibility” introduced during the pandemic.
However, what is on the rise are technical or engineering roles – such as cloud engineer, cybersecurity engineer, back-end developer and artificial intelligence engineer.
The rise of artificial intelligence, an increased focus on cybersecurity, and the continued shift toward digital is driving job growth in technical fields.

Career Expert, LinkedIn
Such jobs account for almost half of Singapore’s LinkedIn listings.
“The rise of artificial intelligence, an increased focus on cyber security and the continued shift towards digital is driving the growth of tech jobs,” said Pooja Chhabria, career expert and Asia Pacific managing editor at LinkedIn.
It’s also not “unexpected” that tech spots dominate Singapore’s list, she added, given the country’s strong position as a startup destination.
“Geographically, Singapore is a good base for technology companies looking to enter Southeast Asia and other APAC markets.”
Demand for technical workers remains strong
However, Waves of technology layoffs have been reported in Southeast Asia last year amid challenging macroeconomic conditions, including Indonesia’s Go to groupSingapore Sea Group and Carousell.
Chhabria remains optimistic, saying this will be a transition year for the tech industry and it may “return to more normal levels of hiring.”
“Overall demand for workers remains strong as workers move to other jobs within and across industries,” she added.
“Technical jobs don’t just serve the technology sector, but are in demand in other industries as they continue to invest in digital transformation.”

Similar to India, jobs that focus on business growth and acquiring new customers are also growing, LinkedIn said.
Such jobs — which Chhabria says help “companies do more with less” in times of economic uncertainty — include sales development, business development and demand generation.
