Too bad nobody in Kentucky is smart enough to operate a Smart Home.

The idea is cool but is very prone to being hacked.

I'm automating my own home now, and yes it does get quite expensive. Enjoyed watching this, and following along, because there is plenty of stuff, I didn't know existed. Wireless charging was something I didn't think of 😉

But here's stuff I think could have been better.

Wemo Switches are not nearly as reliable or flexible as the GE Z-wave options with dimmer. Also, the biggest issue is bringing it all together into one platform. You attempted it via amazon echo, but echo won't allow you to control scenes and automation. You made a pretty house with some smart tech, but failed to deliver on the true automation experience. In other words, while most of this tech is cool to say the least, this video isn't going to turn people towards upgrading their homes without a compelling story and value proposition.

What I'd love to see is a weekly show showing how living in this smart-home makes things more seamless – especially with family. Kids get up in middle of the night to use the restroom? Z-wave door sensor recognizes your daughter left her room, bathroom sensor recognized she went into the bathroom. If she doesn't return back to bed within 20 minutes, turn on dad's light, and call his cell phone to wake him. Dad then finds daughter sleeping on the bathroom floor and saves the day 🙂

That is truly smart, instead of a bunch of connected devices all connected to individual apps that may or may not integrate with amazon echo today.

But fab, choice on the Ecobee. Not sure why you needed the nest in the first place.

the only "smart&working" thing in my house is the microwave. the WiFi is crap here I only have 2 bars😭 my house should be a smart house only if I won't have to get up and clean

I love smart home technology. The only issue is if your WiFi goes down. Then you essentially loose interconnectivity. Then you hope you know/remember how to do some of the stuff the old fashioned way.

Set up a camera in your kids bedroom so you can watch them sleeping… really!!?. Absolutely not. If you can see them, so can hackers.

Makes great smart home. Runs it from an iPhone. That's called idiocy, especially being a tiny phone.
