As well as federal, state and local law enforcement in New York preparing for the possibility that Donald Trump will be criminally accused in connection with the money payment to the porn star, the former president said on social media that he expects to be arrested on Tuesday.
Citing leaks from the “corrupt” Manhattan district attorney’s office, Trump urged his supporters to protest on his behalf.
“THE LEADING REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE AND FORMER PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA WILL BE ARREST TUESDAY OF NEXT WEEK,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social early Saturday morning. “PROTEST, TAKE BACK THE NATION!”
Grand Jury heard testimony related to Stormy Daniels’ 2016 state paycheck Criminal court in lower Manhattan, but no public statements have been made about when or if Trump will be indicted. Law enforcement agencies throughout New York were take safety precautions in case the former president is criminally charged.
If impeached, Trump, a 2024 Republican presidential candidatewould become the first former president ever to face criminal prosecution.
The Manhattan district attorney’s office declined to comment. Trump’s lawyer, Joseph Tacopina, declined to comment.
